    This sensor has a resistance of 15,000 Ohms at 25ºC. Therefore it is not compatible with certain brands of underfloor heating thermostats such as Devi which have a resistance reading of 10k Ohms at 25°C. Please contact us if you are unsure or have any questions regarding this sensor.We have both type : 10k Ohms at 25°C and 15,000 Ohms at 25ºC.

    Description


    All Comfort Heat thermostats include a floor sensor maintaining consistent floor temperature. Floor sensing thermostats are the safest and most energy efficient floor heating regulators ensuring the floor does not overheated, and kept at the desired temperature.

    Replacement floor temperature sensor suitable for a wide range of underfloor heating thermostats.

    An electric underfloor heating remote probe used to control floor or air temperature where moisture might be a problem (For example in a wet room or bathroom.) The sensor can also be used to control floor temperature where overheating would cause damage. The underfloor heating probe is compatible with all of our electric floor heating thermostats.

    The remote probe sensor is supplied with 3 meters of cable as standard but can be extended up to a maximum of 20 meters if required. The ability to extend the underfloor heating probe provides a highly flexible solutions should you wish to install the underfloor heating thermostat in a remote location. The probe is covered in a flexible PPC coating ensuring a durable and waterproof finish.

    Installation Recommendations

    :
    When installing the EcoHeatCool underfloor heating remote probe into any form of screed or solid floor construction we recommend you run the thermostat into a sleeve (tube) within the floor should the thermostat need to be replaced at a later date.


    To extend the underfloor heating probe use an equivalent gauge electrical cable ( Note: The maximum distance from the thermostat should be no more than 20 meters.)


    Mark the position of the conduit on the floor. Remove the surrounding heatmat(s) and cut a channel 12mm wide x 8mm deep in the floor to accommodate the conduit. This will maintain the overall finished floor level. Ensure that the floor is clean before installation of heatmat(s)


    SENSOR LOCATION


    The sensor end should be located in the floor between the heating cables/pipes so it measures the typical floor temperature. The sensor tube should not pass over or under the heating cable.


    SENSOR TUBE


    All Comfort Heat sensors installed in-slab, in-screed or thin mats are installed in a sensor tube. (12mm plastic tube with capped end) This allows the sensor to be removed if required, without lifting floor tiles.

    Under-carpet and under timber systems do not require a sensor tube.


    Sensor Testing


    Using a multi-meter, measure the resistance between the two connection wires in the floor temperature sensor flex, and check against the Thermostat Kit Installation / Operation Guide supplied with the thermostat. Check the resistance before and after installation.


    Where do the RCD/Timer/Thermostat go on the circuit ?
    The mat is laid and the cold leads are fed into a junction box. It doesn't matter where you physically fix these items, though you may want them to be hidden in a cupboard. If you have a thermostat that reads air temperature, this will need to be in the appropriate room. However, if it is fitted with a floor sensor then this isn't necessary.

    HOW DOES THE FLOOR SENSOR DETECT THE TEMPERATURE FOR ELECTRIC UNDERFLOOR HEATING?


    The most efficient way of running and controlling Electric Underfloor Heating is by using a controller that has a floor sensor attached that is located in the floor in between the heating cables. The floor sensor should be located inside a hollow conduit pipe that runs down the back of the wall and into the floor construction, this means the sensor can be protected from the screed or adhesive so no damage is caused but also can easily be pulled out and new one fed back if necessary at a later date.

    The sensor cable is signal/bell wire and has a probe at the end of the sensor that detects the temperature. By being located next top the heating cable the temperature is more reactive and less influenced by the changes in Ambient temperature meaning the system will constantly adjust itself without the need for being on for extended periods of time.

    Although the controller on the wall can be switched to read the Ambient temperature, it is not Touch Underfloor Heatings preferred option as it can be easily influenced by draughts, sunlight, high temperatures etc meaning your Underfloor Heating system will either run constantly or not at all. Tocuh Underfloor Heating provised the 10mm conduit pipe as part of the Kit.
